01

Scope and who we are

This policy applies when you interact with Steadwell in person, by phone, email, through this website, or while considering or receiving our financial advice services.

Steadwell is the brand used on this website. The current Financial Services Guide identifies the financial services provider as Altias Private Wealth Pty Ltd, trading as EEA Advisory (ABN 91 649 047 585, ACN 649 047 585), Corporate Authorised Representative 1286337 of Count Financial Limited (ABN 19 001 974 625, AFSL 227232). In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that practice.

We manage personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Information handled by Count is also subject to Count’s Privacy Policy.

02

Information we collect and how we collect it

The information we need depends on your relationship with us and the services you request. It may include:

  • your name, date of birth, address, email, and phone number;
  • identity documents and identifiers needed to meet legal and anti-money laundering obligations;
  • your financial position, income, expenses, tax information, bank details, assets, liabilities, investments, superannuation, and insurance arrangements;
  • your goals, risk preferences, family circumstances, employment, and information about your spouse or dependants;
  • sensitive information, such as health information, where it is relevant and you have consented or collection is otherwise permitted by law;
  • correspondence, meeting notes, service records, and information you provide through an enquiry; and
  • technical information that website hosting and security systems may process, such as IP address, browser type, device information, and pages requested.

We usually collect information directly from you. With your authority or where permitted by law, we may also collect it from your accountant, lawyer, product or platform providers, insurers, Count, government bodies, public registers, or another person acting for you.

If you do not provide information

We may be unable to provide advice or services, verify your identity, or tailor our advice appropriately if information is incomplete or inaccurate.

03

How we use your information

We may collect, hold, use, and disclose information to:

  • understand your circumstances, objectives, and needs;
  • provide, implement, administer, and review financial advice;
  • communicate with you and work with professionals you have authorised;
  • process applications and liaise with product and platform providers;
  • verify identity, assess source of funds, prevent fraud, and comply with legal, regulatory, and professional obligations;
  • manage our business, records, quality assurance, risk, complaints, and security; and
  • send relevant service information or marketing where permitted. You may opt out of marketing at any time.

We may use artificial intelligence tools to support administrative quality and efficiency. These tools do not change our obligations to protect your information or the adviser’s responsibility for the services provided. We will ask for your permission before recording a conversation.

04

Sharing and overseas disclosure

We only disclose personal information where it is reasonably needed to provide services, you have authorised it, or disclosure is required or permitted by law. Recipients may include:

  • Count and its related service providers;
  • product issuers, platforms, insurers, and custodians;
  • paraplanners, technology, identity verification, document storage, mailing, audit, legal, and other professional service providers;
  • accountants, tax advisers, lawyers, or other professionals you authorise us to work with;
  • regulators, courts, law enforcement, and government agencies;
  • a purchaser or successor in connection with a proposed or completed transfer of the business, where permitted by law.

Some providers may store or access information outside Australia. Count’s current privacy policy identifies outsourced providers in the Philippines, India, Malaysia, the United States of America, and Serbia. Provider arrangements may change. Where practicable, we will tell you about likely overseas locations at or before collection, and we take reasonable steps to require overseas recipients to handle information consistently with Australian privacy law.

05

Security, retention, and data breaches

We use reasonable physical, technical, and organisational safeguards to protect information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We retain information for as long as reasonably required to provide services and meet record-keeping, legal, regulatory, insurance, and dispute-resolution obligations. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

If an eligible data breach occurs, we will assess it and notify affected individuals and the OAIC where required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

06

Access, correction, and your choices

You may ask to access personal information we hold about you or request that inaccurate, incomplete, or out-of-date information be corrected. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. If the law allows us to refuse access or correction, we will explain why and the available complaint options.

Send your request to ben.v@steadwell.com.au, call +61 (0) 414 918 956, or write to The Hub at Capalaba, Unit 12/2 Loraine St, Capalaba QLD 4157. You may also contact Count’s Privacy Officer at privacy@count.au.

07

Privacy questions and complaints

Please contact us first if you have a question or concern about the way we have handled personal information. Tell us what happened and the outcome you are seeking. We will acknowledge, investigate, and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
